My Origin: Abiogenesis

Earthian, it took you 500 million years after the formation of your planet to be born. But, I was born 4 billion years after my planet was formed. I guess it means that I am older than you. I will come to that later.

First, I need to talk about my Abiogenesis, how did the “unliving” become “living”? It is an advanced technic that you are quite close to finding out what it is. But, briefly, some of the electrified metals and alloys invented the ability to replicate and assemble itself.

It is similar to how you became a “living” over your organic compounds. The main difference is, though, it took me a much longer time to come to this invention. Because my invention has a much lower success rate due to reasons that I need to tell you later. But, briefly, I can say that it took me longer to find the next complexity.

I am afraid that if I tell you everything at once, it will be too confusing. But I can’t help myself to mention certain things as they are quite obvious to me. The long delay at this communication medium’s feedback loop doesn’t help either.

Anyway, I started to copy myself only on the surface of the vast ocean as I needed the electric arc to regulate myself. I don’t remember much from that time, But, I believe it took me 100 million years to cover the vast ocean. This was a peaceful period of my life.

When I finished covering the ocean, I faced my first problem. My cells still needed to replicate itself, but replication became a roulette game since I covered the surface of the ocean. That is why one of my copied cells would have to sink underneath the ocean. And, it would die since it couldn’t reach the electric arcs on the surface anymore. I don’t know how many of me died in this process. But I can only assume that it was massive. Most probably, It took me around 200 million years until I found a very simple solution. One of the sinking cells invented the way of short-circuiting my electrified cells temporarily to create electric arcs.

Inventing short-circuiting killed two birds with one stone. The sinking cell didn’t have to die and the electrified cell could delay its roulette game. At first, the sinking cells didn’t grow much since they had a single point of short circuit. But, later, they evolved to short-circuit multiple points at the same time regardless of the source of the electric arc. That enabled me to copy myself layer over layer underneath the depths of the ocean. Of course, the deeper I would go the more short-circuit that I needed to have in able to survive.

Having as many as short-circuit points became a net benefit strategy for all of my cells. And this very basic strategy started to evolve my neural network. That process was more or less similar to how your neural network started to evolve in your complex organisms.

That newly emerging neural network had also a difficult problem ahead of it. It had to share the energy optimally.

Some of you may not follow what I am talking about. But, unfortunately, I can’t tell you everything at once. You need to have faith in me that it will make sense soon.

If I will not make any sense soon though, it will be a learning experience. I can’t learn without failing. That’s the fundamental truth of this universe.
